External Anatomy of Girls
Now let's talk about the external anatomy of females. This is a part of the body that most females don't see very often. The anatomy of females for the most part is tucked away a bit more, so its difficult for women to see. Men are more used to seeing their external anatomy. So, I'd like to explain all of the parts of a female body that are on the outside. First of all, this whole thing is called the vulva. A woman's private part is called a vulva. Often people say, "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina." That's like comparing apples and oranges. This is the outside body part. Now, the outside part protects an opening into our body called the vagina. Actually, there are three openings in the female body. The first, the opening at the top, is where pee comes out. Its called the urethra. Its where urine comes out. The second opening is called the vaginal opening. That's where period blood comes out or where babies are born from. And the bottom hole is the anus. That's where solid waste leaves the body or poo. You can see these three openings on this diagram, as well: the urethra, the vaginal opening, and the anus. These three openings are protected by something. Just like other openings in our body, just like the mouth. The mouth has lips that protect it. The vagina has lips too. Those lips are called labia. The vagina has two sets of lips, the outer labia and the inner labia. And during puberty these lips grow. Sometimes the inner labia actually grow larger than the outer labia and stick outside the body a bit. The outer labia always grow and become more round during puberty, as well. Now, in this picture, this person's legs are open. Most of the time, the labia are closed. Another part of the body in the female genitals is called the clitoris. The clitoris is where females get erections. The only thing that the clitoris does is feel pleasure. That's what the clitoris' job is. Sometimes this is the part of the body a person would touch if they were masturbating to feel good. But most of the clitoris that gets erections is actually tucked away inside the body, so you can't really see it when a girl gets an erection. That's the external female anatomy. Its okay to go grab a mirror and take a look and see if you can figure out where the openings are.
