Q and A - Changes
"If puberty happens between the ages of 9 to 15, why do we learn about it when we are 10 or 11?" This person might be learning about puberty earlier on. We think it's important to learn about puberty before the changes start to happen so that a person is not worried or concerned when the changes start happening. "When can boys get muscles? When do girls start to grow more hips?" Well, everybody is going to be different. Some people will start puberty early, some will start puberty late. There is no way to know for sure when your body will start changing, just have a curious mind and notice when it happens. "Why do girls get taller first?" I don't actually know the answer to that question. We just do know that in human puberty starts a little earlier in girls than in boys. The average age that puberty starts for girls is somewhere around 11 or 12. The average age it starts for boys is around 12, 13, 14. So, everyone is going to be different. This person says, "I don't have any puberty at all and I'm 10 years old, is that normal?" Well, many people at the age of 10 have not yet noticed changes happening in their bodies. Just wait, the changes will start happening.
